Data Protection & Local Storage

Privacy Policy

1. Overview & Local-First Privacy Architecture

PickleLobby (accessible at www.picklelobby.app) is engineered with a strict local-first privacy architecture. Unlike traditional cloud-only sports apps that transmit every keystroke to remote servers, PickleLobby writes your active queues, player rosters, and live match scores directly to your local device storage (IndexedDB via Dexie.js).

Our core mission is to make Open Play management effortless and fair without creating unnecessary digital surveillance. We maintain a strict zero-mandatory-login policy for players: players can check into an Open Play queue, view live court assignments on live scoreboards, and monitor their standings without creating a user account, downloading an app, or surrendering passwords.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data required to organize fair pickleball matches and facilitate tournament management:

A. Player Check-In Data

When a player joins a session via QR code or host entry, we record their chosen display name, optional self-reported skill rating (1.0 to 6.0), optional DUPR ID (for match validation), and optional paddle model (for equipment analytics).

B. Organizer & Club Details

Organizers who create sessions or upgrade to Club Pro provide an email address, club or venue name, court configurations, and optional custom branding hex codes and logo URLs.

C. Payment Verification Uploads

In venues utilizing digital receipt verification (e.g. GCash, Maya, QR Ph), players may upload transaction confirmation receipts. Receipts are processed on-device and stored securely strictly for session auditing and duplicate transaction fraud detection.

3. Third-Party Integrations & Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information to data brokers. Third-party integrations are activated strictly to fulfill courtside functions requested by the organizer:

  • Reclub Public Event Import: When an organizer imports an event URL, PickleLobby fetches public RSVP attendee lists to populate the session bench.
  • DUPR API Reporting: Match scores and player DUPR IDs are submitted to the official DUPR global rating registry only when the host explicitly clicks “Submit to DUPR”.
  • Payment Gateways: For direct online checkouts, transactions are handled by PCI-DSS compliant providers (PayMongo, Maya, or Stripe). PickleLobby never sees or stores full credit card numbers.

4. Data Retention & Right to Erasure

Because session data resides in your browser storage, organizers can instantly purge all local match histories, queues, and cached rosters at any time by clearing browser site data.

For cloud-synced sessions or player records, any player or organizer may request complete, permanent erasure of their records by contacting our privacy team at [email protected]. We honor all verified deletion requests within 7 business days.

5. Cookies & Client-Side Storage

PickleLobby does not use third-party behavioral advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use standard browser `localStorage` strictly for functional user preferences:

  • `pl_theme`: Remembers your Daylight Clean vs. Stadium Dark theme preference.
  • `pl_user_region`: Remembers your selected country and currency code.
  • `pl_preview_tier`: Stores your active Basic vs. Club Pro experience mode.
